When the major Hollywood names pass through the red carpet, hide underneath the dresses designer that not a millionaires see the light of the spotlight. Are parts of the Commando, a line of underwear that is sold as “invisible underwear” for using a moldable fabric, instead of elastic, to create smoother contours.
-With all the lights and cameras, you need to choose something without sewing-Leslie Fremar, says New York Designer, who typically use Commando parts when she’s working for celebrities such as Julianne Moore and Reese Witherspoon, two actresses she donned for the latest edition of the Oscar ceremony.

-Is the basis of all the looks we create – says Karla Welch, Los Angeles stylist who dresses Felicity Jones, Olivia Wilde and Amy Poehler. -Is a simple little secret, smart and accessible to everyone. Was the great discovery of the underwear.
The Commando also participates regularly in the New York fashion week, where designers, including Rebecca Minkoff, Prabal Gurung and Michelle Smith of Milly, love the way the pieces are almost invisible even from the front row, when the models parading dresses and short skirts.
-The parts allow the girls to move freely and show the looks that I created – says Michelle, whose models used thongs of skin color Commando in your fashion show on February 16.
The discrete nature of the underwear line was put to the test on the prize Council of Fashion Designer of America 2014 (Council of Fashion Designers of 2014 United States), when Rihanna wore a dress transparent Adam Selman which left little to the imagination. Judging by the scant attention that the undergarments received (and the amount of news it generated), the piece proved to be perfect for the role.

-When to use thongs skin color, always choose the Commando says Mel Ottenberg, Rihanna’s stylist for a long time. -They do not appear, even when the dress is very thin and people will see everything.
Given the adoption by the fashion, one would expect that the Commando was a figment of a Hollywood stylist or a designer from New York. But the brand was created by Kerry ´ Brien, formerly the Middle ad 43 financial years who lives in Shelburne, Vermont, and spends his free time skiing at Stowe and doing stand up paddle on Lake Champlain.
Kerry founded the Commando in 2003 after working as Senior Vice President of public relations firm Weber Shandwick, where he specialized in financial media. In 2001, the day after the September 11 attacks, she resigned.
– I knew I had to watch coverage of the attacks several times, as part of my job, and I was sure I couldn’t – explains Kerry. – Today I realize that, anyway, was probably under a lot of stress.
While trying to figure out what to do, she answered questions from friends who were looking for advice on what clothes to wear. Instead of giving tips on what to wear and how to put on makeup, that was usually asking about underwear from their friends. And the most common is to find unattractive parts.
-The rubber band is the enemy of underwear. No one looks good or feel good with a rubber band on the body-says Kerry.
So, Kerry decided to create a line of undergarments different from the others: without elastic or embellishments. In New York, found a company that would produce the parts and make the panties stay in place using a stretch nylon fabric interlaced with Lycra. The material and the model prevented the workpiece down without even a rubber band in the waist.
She called your line of Commando in reference to an American slang for someone who’s not wearing underwear. Kerry has created two prototypes and introduced them to Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. The stores have made requests immediately, says she.
-I spent a lot of time in the dressing room with customers little dressed – says Ken Downing, Senior Vice President and fashion Director of Neiman Marcus. -They always are surprised with the effect that a good foundation can do. Commando parts leave everything right.
Using money saved and the salesmanship that got while working in public relations, Kerry began to offer your line of door to door to retailers across the country. In a year, more than 500 shops were selling their pieces, tells her.
The Commando was perhaps one of the first brands of lingerie without elastic band to hit the market, but today there are many others, such as Cosabella, Maidenform and Spanx, which offer similar products. The Commando added colors, designs and styles, as well as t-shirts, tank tops and bathing suits to your line.
At the Oscars, Kerry will never know exactly who was using pieces of your brand. Which is precisely the point.
-A good underwear makes the trim of the dress is completely different – she explains.
